Skiing the impressive North face of Aiguille du Midi by the Eugster diagonal route. First descent by Laurent Giacomini in June 1977.

I went off solo this beautiful day. Looking down from the upper section. Here the snow was quite hard in some places.

Looking down to the half moon were Mallory and Eugster splits up.

To enter the diagonal it was a small crux, pretty narrow passage, not possible to pass with my clumsy B-Squads. I down climbed it.

Looking up from the half moon to upper “rocky” section. It was quite steep there, around 55° degrees.

The Aiguille du Midi cable-car goes just over your head when you ski the upper part. Funny feeling!

I met two Finnish guys after the first crux. We joined up and did the rappel(35m) in the middle of the west facing couloir together. This is just after the rappel.

I’m preparing the rope for the last rappel(10m).

Skiing the exit couloir. There was a small crux in the middle(1.5m rock band) which we jumped over easily.
