2006/05/17 - Gervasutti Couloir, Mont Blanc du Tacul photo01 (IMG_0364.JPG Kb)
I had a good feeling about the snowconditions in this Couloir and it turned out to be perfect. It was about 15 cm powder snow over a stable layer of packed snow. photo02 (IMG_0139.jpg Kb)
To be sure about the conditions I climbed the couloir. It tooked me about 2 hours and 15 min. photo03 (IMG_0141.jpg Kb)
You don't want to get stucked under this crazy serac. I moved as quickly as possible. Here I'm about to travers to the other side of the couloir. photo04 (IMG_0144.jpg Kb)
At the top I met two guys who hiked up the noth face. It was nice to have some company on the decent. photo05 (IMG_0145.jpg Kb)
The couloir is about 700 vertical meter hight with a average angle of 50 degrees. photo06 (IMG_0146.jpg Kb)
The big objekt danger on this route is this enormous serac. photo07 (IMG_0148.jpg Kb)
Andy about halfway down. photo08 (IMG_0151.jpg Kb)
The decent took us 25 minutes. photo09 (IMG_0155.jpg Kb)
A photo taken from the bergschrund up in the couloir. photo10 (IMG_0158.jpg Kb)
The whole route from the Aiguille du Midi station to the Montenvers train took 4 hours 45 minutes. photo11 (IMG_0160.jpg Kb)
The Jager Couloir next to Gervasutti was also in perfect conditions. photo12 (linegervasutti.JPG Kb)
