2006/05/01 - Gervasutti Couloir, Tour Ronde photo01 (IMG_0169.jpg Kb)
The summit of Tour Ronde(3792m) is beutiful and from the top you have several options to ski down. On the west side of the mountain you have the Gervasutti couloir. photo02 (IMG_0069.jpg Kb)
It took us 2 hours and 20 minutes to reach the summit. We waited two hours on the top to let the snow soften but it was cloudy so it didn't soften a bit. That maked the first part quite hard. I was little worried if my Diamir bindings could make it but it was no problem. I prefer to go with stiff skis and downhill bindings if the conditions is like this. The access will not be so comfortable but it's much easier to ski the decent. Here is Max and Mimi just about to put theirs skins on. photo03 (IMG_0070.jpg Kb)
This is half way up. The couloir itself is about 350-400 vertical meters and it's about 50 degrees steep. The last 60 meters was rocky and narrow so we had to side-slip a bit on the beginning of the decent. The hole route took us 8 hours and from the top their is 2150 vertical meters skiing down to the Montenvers train. photo04 (linje.JPG Kb)
