Steepskiing

2009/05/25 – Mont Blanc, West face direct

This route was first descended by Stefano De Benedetti in September, 1980. Fantastic descent that we managed to do in one day by grabbing the first cabin from Chamonix at 08.10 o’clock in the morning.

2009/05/21 – Pain de Sucre, North face

We were lucky with the weather on our trip to Pain de Sucre. At 09.00 o’clock we had nothing but rain, strong winds and whiteout. We went up to Midi and grabbed a coffee, after a while we decided to give it a try…

The historic and classic route on the Nant Blanc face. Charlet/Platonov route, TD. V 2, 4c M. 900m. Happy to have been here and happy to skied Whymper again, this time in very good conditions!

2009/05/03 – Tour Ronde, North face

You can access Tour Ronde so easy either by Aiguille du Midi and 45min climbing with skins or by the Hellbronner lift, not more than 20min hike.

2009/04/21 – Col du Plan, North face

The conditions on the North face of Col du Plan has been really good this year. Looks more like a skiing piste with all this tracks…thanks to Andreas & company for opening it for the season few days earlier!

2009/03/31 - Les Courtes, North/East face

Second time for me on the North/East face of les Courtes. This time, the conditions couldn’t be better…

2009/03/22 – Col de l’Amône, South/West couloir

This couloir is not possible to see before the last 100m when accessing from Grands Montets. Maybe is that the reason why Col de l’Amône is less frequent skied than other steep-ski descents around here?

2009/03/16 – Les Courtes, South face direct

After about five hours of climbing on the North face of les Courtes by the classic Swiss route we arrived at the entrance of the south couloir.

2008/05/12 – Aiguille du Chardonnet, East Couloir

This couloir is quite isolated and not very often skied. Little bit shorter than the south couloir but more beautiful (my opinion).

2008/05/11 – Aiguille du Chardonnet, South Couloir

The South couloir seen from the summit of Aiguille d’Argentière. There are a couple of variant lines from the summit and the Forbes ridge. This line is the most skiable and common one.

2008/05/04 – Aiguille Verte, Whymper Couloir

"queen of the mountains...the most beautiful of the beautiful..." big words about Verte written down by Henri Isselin. It's certainly a special moment to stand on the summit of Aiguille Verte. It's also, certainly, a special moment to ski down the Whymper couloir!

2008/05/02 - Mont Blanc du Tacul, Couloir Jager

This was my third time here in Jager and this time it was very good skiing even if we didn't ski it from it's very top(very crusty but possible to sideslip).

2008/04/25 – Mont Blanc du Tacul, Couloir du Diable

It was pretty extreme weather conditions on our trip to Mont Blanc du Tacul. Really cold and super windy. The weather wasn’t what meteo-france promised(80% sun…).It was overcast and almost storm in the couloir. This impressive couloir is 800vertical meters with an angle between 50°-55° degrees.

2008/04/18 – Aiguille de l’Encrenaz, North Couloir

Aiguilles Rouges offers many varied and exciting couloirs. Today I went by myself to l'Encrenaz and skied the North couloir in powder snow. After the Floria drag-lift there is a long traverse around the Aiguilles, direction Lac Blanc. You will arrive to the slopes below the Col de l'Encrenaz. The beginning of the couloir is left of the Col. Pretty obvious to see. It's also possible to access from the south side of l'Encrenaz by a large easy angled couloir.

2008/04/13 - Aiguille d'Argentière, Couloir Y

We had very good snow conditions today in couloir Y on the South/East face of Aiguille d'Argentière. We skied the left branch and it was powder in it from the start to the point where the two couloirs meet up. The lower section was a little bit crusty but ok. We did a rappel throught the bergschrund(30m, to icy and narrow). We started 05.00 o'clock from Grands Montets lift-station(nice place to sleep by the way...) and it took 5 hours for us to reach the summit.

2008/04/05 - Aiguille Mesure, East face

The East face of Aiguille Mesure. There is a couple of variant descents depending on snowcover. The line in the middle of the face need quite a lot of snow. More skiers right there is easier to find a way trought the rocks.

2008/02/23 – Aiguille Croulante, South Couloir via Col du Cristaux

This is a interesting ski-mountaineering traverse. Access from the Grands Montets cablecar, climb the North/East couloir of Col de Cristaux and descend the South side, down to the Talèfre Basin. On the ridge, from Col de Cristeaux up to Aiguille Qui Remue, you have magnificents views over Grands Jorasses, Mont Blanc, Triolet…360° degrees!!!

2008/02/10 – Aiguille de l’Éboulement, South couloir

After a good night sleep at the Requin hut and a quite long climb(+1520m), we skied the south couloir on Aiguille l’Éboulement in perfect conditions!

2007/05/07 - Les Courtes, North-East face

This big face is beautiful and very nice to ski. Unfortunately we got caught by bad weather just 200m from the summit. We recieved 700 vertical meters skiing with 20cm powder snow so we got satisfied anyway.

2007/04/25 - Aiguille d'Argentière, Barbey Couloir

This mountain is very skiable. Couloir Barbey is a large couloir that faces East and has a avarage angle of about 45 degrees. Me, Jacob and Pelle recieved perfect weather and nice snow on our two days outing here.

2007/04/18 - Aiguille du Belvédère, East face

We where suprised when we climbed up the East face of Aiguille du Belvédère. The snow was cold! We wanted to ski the north face at first but we changed our minds.

2007/04/14 - Col des Cristaux, North/East face

This is a route that I'm probably going to redo many times. The face is not very long, about 500m and the access with skins is easy.

2007/02/21 - Pointe de Gigord, North/East Couloir

Me and Max had perfect snowconditions on our outing to the Gigord Couloir. Unfortunaly we couldn't ski the hole couloir because of the rocks in the upper section.

2006/06/11 - Col du Diable, Macho Couloir

On my last day on ski this season I went up to the Col du Diable on the Mont Blanc du Tacul and skied this East slope with Max, Mimi and Flo. Nice run with a angle of about 50 degrees from the top down to the hanging glacial plateau.

2006/06/10 - Aiguille du Toule, North face

With help from the Helbronner Panorama cablecar from the top of Aiguille du Midi me and Max had a very easy acces to the Aiguille de Toule. We started at 1030 and we where back in Chamonix at 1700. This little north face is really steep in the middle section(about 55 degrees) but very short so we didn't make many turns on our way down. Anyway the snow conditions on the decent was hard so it maked the turns quite difficult.

2006/06/05 - Aiguille de la Glière, South face

Max come up with this genial idea when he was sitting outside his house in les Praz, watching up the Aiguille Rouge with his binoculars . He spotted a line throught the rocks witch he thought was possible to ski. The day after we went up to the Flegère middle station. The cablecar was closed for the season but we hitch-hiked up with Mimis fathers 4X4 pickup the first part. From the middle station we had about 480 vertical meters by foot to the top of the Index station. The plan was to spend the night at the Index station and start climbing early in the morning the day after.

2006/05/26 - Aiguille de Blaitière, Spencer Couloir

I actually wanted to do something on the Mont Blanc du Tacul this day but Max insisted to go. It's fun and inspiring to have freinds that want to do things so it wasn't hard to persuade me to come along...

2006/05/24 - Aiguillettes du Tacul, East Couloir

We hasitated a little bit before hiking up here. It was two groups of skiers before us and small chances to have untracked skiing. Usually it doesn't matter for me, but for Max is that quite important...The alternative was instead to ski the Aiguillettes couloir, but it didn't look that good because it was not so much snow in it. I think we did the right thing choosing this decent. Anyway, I felt pretty satisfied after doing it.

2006/05/17 - Mont Blanc du Tacul, Gervasutti Couloir

I had a good feeling about the snowconditions in this Couloir and it turned out to be perfect. It was about 15 cm powder snow over a stable layer of packed snow.

2006/05/03 - Aiguille Noir, North face

This face is so nice to ski and it's a very easy acces from the Vallé Blanche. From the summit you have about 800 vertical meters with an angle of 40-45 degrees. When we skied it this day we took another line much more skiers left than the red line shows.

2006/05/01 - Tour Ronde, Gervasutti Couloir

The summit of Tour Ronde(3792m) is beutiful and from the top you have several options to ski down. On the west side of the mountain you have the Gervasutti couloir.

2006/04/17 - Aiguille du Tacul, North-West Shoulder

One of my best day on ski this season was the decent of Aiguille du Tacul, 3444m. I took the 0730 cabin from Chamonix and it was really crowded. I think it was three groups of skiers that day on the Tacul. It's nice with company and it's safer. It doesn't matter for me so much if it's crowded or not. Of course sometimes skiing on the Grands Montets pisses me of nowadays. But I don´t think it's the large number of people thats annoying me. It's the attitude I'm not up to. Probably I'm not tuff enought.
